Hey Dad,
I really don’t think Bad Dad’s carrier pigeon idea is a bad one. It would take longer to communicate, but everyone would know it was me! Or you could build me a firepit in the backyard and I’ll send smoke signals all the time. Instead of being on the phone, I’ll be outside burnin’ some dead grass or something. Just watch out that I don’t start putting weed in it. That could drift over the fence to the neighbor’s house and then we’d get their 10-year-old high! Thats just what we need. I think a cell phone is the best way to go. I’m not asking for anything, just sayin…It’ll be easier on all of us.
Anyway, my cell phone situation is nothing compared to Girl 2’s. She told me she needs a DINGLEHOPPER. Yeah. and Boy4 wants a Snarfblatt. Good luck with THAT one.
Anyway. Love ya Dad. See ya later.

What’s this world coming to when a man denies his children of a Snarfblatt or a Dinglehopper!

Cell phone is not too bad. My boss has a daughter about the same age as yours. He got her a cell phone with GPS device and unlimited text messaging. Yes, for a teenager with a cell phone, unlimited text messaging is REQUIRED. What’s great about the GPS device? My boss can find his daughter any time unless she turns off the cell phone but she wouldn’t want to turn off the cell phone because she needs to send and receive text messages. =) Cell phone can be a life-saving device (hope it’s never needed in that way, of course!)

Or… disable the text messaging. It is required for teenager’s cell phone: either UNLIMITED or DISABLED text messaging to avoid unexpected cell phone bill.

She can have all the text messaging she wants…as long as she’s paying for it. I kind of like the GPS idea. Do they have devices that will tell me the names and ages of whoever she’s around?

I agree with the paying part. I took a course in adolescent psychology and found out that teenager working less than 20 hours a week actually have better grades (academic) and career than those who don’t work or those who work more than 20 hours. I bumped into an interesting video today on CNN News (through yahoo.com) about “Raising a Millionaire” (I forgot the exact title.) It’s pretty interesting. Sorry, can’t help you with finding out the names and ages of whever she’s around. My parents did manage to meet everyone who I hanged around with. Of course, most of my friends also ended up going to Ivy Leagues. =) My husband vowed to follow our daughter around until she’s 18. She’s not yet 18 months… we’ll see…
