Ignore the spelling. You have to read this phonetically. It’s just not the same if you don’t hear the little kid’s voice.

Boy 4:

Deaw Heabenly Fado, tank-oo fo dis day. Tank-oo fo my famiwy. Tank-oo fo dis food, and peas bess it. And peas bess Wiwwy. And bess de sawt and peppo. [pause] And pease bess dat nobody will cut ow heads off.

He would have gone on, but at that point Girl 15 and I leaked laughs out our noses with a ssnnkktt! and then Boy 7 lost it loudly, so Girl 15 and I let go and opened the damn.

See Her Hotness rolling her eyes at the irreverence.
See Girl 2 wonder what in the world is going on.
See Boy 4 eating up the attention and laughing (it takes him a while to figure out what’s funny).

Just another mealtime at Chez Five.

It’s not a bad request, really. I do indeed hope that noone cuts my head off today.

You made me laugh out loud too. That’s so funny. Seriously funny. (I love the “takes him a while to figure out what’s funny” addendum.)

We had an incident when Youngest Son was about the same age, giving thanks while also trying to resist eating his food until he’d finished. It resulted in a Freudian slip of sorts. The prayer went like this:

“Lorda Jesis. Don’t touch da food. Amen”

May your heads indeed be never separated from your shoulders!

    I ‘m with Boy4. No heads-cutting-off for me.

The good thing is that at least you are all praying together as a family. Even if only for entertainment value.

    ;)
