Spiderman 3 is Long and Boring

Watched it last night for the first time with Boy 7 and Boy 12. 2/3 of the way through, I was still waiting for the plot to hit critical mass. How many plotlines can you pack into a movie, anyway? I counted five (a separate villain for almost all of them), and though the film tries to bring them together, it doesn’t succeed. They run parallel to each other, never quite braiding the way they should have.

And those goofball scenes with Peter strutting/dancing down the street?? It could have been 30 seconds long, but it goes on for several minutes.

The more interesting “plot” was the one being enacted on my couch, where Boy 7 would ask a question about the movie (I don’t know, kiddo, I’m lost too), prompting a growl and mean response from Boy 12. I finally put a stop to it by separating them, but it was too slow and too soft a response. Should have sent him to bed the first time he told his little brother to “shut up.”

That’s the way to enjoy a bad film! Punctuate it with obnoxious kid behavior. Oh, did I mention the trick he learned while we were gone of farting in Boy 7’s face? That was amusing, too. Welcome home, Parentals! Did you have a nice time? Look what I can do! Ppffbbbt!

The MTV ripoff is awesome because Jack Black is the funniest thing to come out of Hollywood since… something funny a long time ago. Even his average movies are good, and he’s just whacked.

As for S3… I enjoyed it, but I struggled to keep up, so I empathise with Boy7. I managed to fart at some friends so that helped. Made the cinema a bit stinky, though, and I had to explain what I was doing standing on the chair’s armrests with my bum in my mate’s face. LOOOOONG story…

Spidey always wins in the end. Even his “mortal enemy” became his friend again. Pfft. Nowhere like the comics. Bring on Batman Begins 2 (or whatever that will be called). The Dark Knight returneth, and he’s angry and got issues…

I LOVED Batman Begins and am anxious to see if they can pull off greatness a second time.

His mortal enemy because his friend, the dude that tried to smash him into the crossbeams was a nice guy, after all. Just a concerned father, doing what any concerned father with superpowers would do.

Loved the image of you standing on the seat to quaff your buddy. Loved in an alarming sort of way.

Why do I only hear about this sort of behaviour via someone else’s blog????
